ORDINANCE .No. 51.
AN ORp:p::;rANCE to create and govern a voluntary J!'ire Department in
the ·1·~qwn of Marysville, Washington.
BE IT ORDAINED BY'THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF.MARYSVILLE.
SECTION 1. That a voluntary .1rire Department in said town is
hereby created and established, which shall consist of Pres.ident,
Secretar:y, Treasurer, F8reman,. Fi:iist-Assistant .1roreman and Second
Assist~p1t Jrnreman, to liletiteddannually bn the second Monday of
Januarf in each year, and serve until their successors are elected
and qualified and of Marysville Hook and Ladder Company .No. ll., and
such other companies as may hereafter be created.
SECTION .. 2. The officers of said Fire Department shall have
power to .make such rul@s.and regulations as they deem necessary
for the.good government of the department and welfare of the city,
not in conflict with this ordinance, and said r~les and regulations
shall be enforced by punishing ani}t member'violating the same, by
repr~and or suspension fill.om the department as the officers shall
deem b.est. ·
SECT.ION 3. All of the members of the department shall be sub-
ject to and comply strictly with .. the rules and regulations of
the department. •
SECTION 4. The foreman of said department shall at all times
have charge of the property of the department, and shall make a
report to the council of its .. condition quarterly of each fiscal
year.
SECTION 5. The foreman of said department shall at all times
supervise, and cause to be kept in repair ready for instaµt.use
and service all dlfothe apparatus and equipments of the depart-
ment; he shall certify to all bills, charged to·the fire depart-
ment and shall keep in a book.to be provided VY the City Council
a time record of all fires, stating as near as possible the cause
and the amount of property destroyed or damaged. lt shall be his
duty to be at all fires, and all orders issued by him shall be
promptly obeyed. He shall contract no bills in connection with
the department except by eeil: consent of the committee on fire and
water supply.
SECTION 6. In the absence or inability of the foreman., the
first-and second assistant foreman, or either of them shall dis-
charge the duties of the foreman.
SECTION 7. The foreman or person in command may prescribe
limits within the vicinity of the fire, within which no person
except .those residing therein, foremen and persons admitted by
the officers of the department shall be permitted.

SECTION 9. The foreman or other officer in charge when engaged
in and about the .!!'ire Department, whether in practice drill or
active service, is hereby vested with full police powers, and shall
cause the arrest of any person who shall in any manner interfere
with any member of the Department in the performance of his duty
and any person who shall be convicted before the Police Court
of having interfered with any fireman in the performance of his
duty shall be fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00)
Dollars, and shall stand. committed to prison until such fine and
costs are paid.

SECTION 10. The fire department shall have the right of way of r ..
all streets alleys and other property in case of fire or alarm
thereof, and any driver of wagon, , cart, street car or other
vehicle who shall intentionally drive over any :tiose or other. · ..
apparatus or appliances belonging to the department during ahy>
fire or alarm thereof, or firemans drill or any person who
shall intentionally hinder or delay and any fireman. in the
performance of his duty shall, upon conviction thereof be·
fined any sum not exceeding One Hundred ($100,00) Dollars .
and shall stand committed to prison until such fine and
cos.ts are paid.
SECTION 11. . . Any person who. shall wilfully :remove, injure .·

any person who shall cause the same to be done shall upon
conviction be fined in any sum not exceeding Oi;ie Hundred ·. . .

SECTION 12. All fines imposed by this Ordinance and collect.

SECTION 13. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from: and after its passage, approval and publication.
