ORDINANCE No.113.
VAGRANCY:
AN ORDINANCE defining vagrancy and prescribing the punishment
the~efor,and repealing all ordinances in conflict therewith.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL 0]'THE TOWN OF MARYSVILLE:
SECTION 1.All professional fortune tellers,and all persons
who keep houses or places where lost·or stolen goods may be found,
all habitual drunkards,all persons who wander about the streets
in the night not giving a good account of them~elves,all persons
who wander about having no visible calling or business to maintain
themselves and no visible means of support,all persons who lodge
in out-houses or places other than places kept for lodging purposes
without the consent or permission of the owner,all lewd or dis-
solute persons who live in or about houses of ill fame,all com-
monprostitutes,all professional beggars who solicit alms within
the limits of said Town,all persons cOhducting in any street or
open place any game or pretende9lgame of chance,shall be deemed
vagrants.
SEOTION 2.All person convicted of vagrancy under the pro-
visions of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less
than five ($5.00)Dollars,nor more than One Hundred ($lOO.aa)
Dollars together with costs,or by imprisonment for any time not
exceeding thirty days,and any person sentenced to inprisonment
under the provisions of this ordinance may be compelled,during
the term of such imprisonment to labor on the streets or other
public property or works Within the said Town.
SECTION 3.That all brdi:\.nancescr parts of ordinances in
conflict with the pro~isions of this ordinancesbenand the same
are hereby repealed.
