NAlVIING OF STREETS: AN ORDINANCE adopting the names of streets,avenues and public places and prescribing a system for the numbering buildings and premises in ~G~he ~own of Marysville,providing the penalties for the failure to comply therewith and repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith. BE IT ORDAIllliD BY T}~COUNCIL OF THE TOVlN OF NillRYsVILLE: SECTION 1.That the several stree~s,avenues and public places in the Town of Marysville shall hereafter be known by the names applied thereto respectively IDn the several plats of land within the .limitsof said Town as the same appear of record in the office of the Auditor of Snohomish County,State of Washington,except as hereinafter provided. SECTION 2.Steele Street in Steele's Suburban Addition and Nina street'in Coleman and Hagen's Addition shall hereafter be known and designated as Ninth Street,and the entire length of Ninth Street projected to the West Town Limits shall be known as Ninth Street. SECTION 3.Ninth Street in Steele's Second Addition,lying west of Delta Street shall hereafter be known and designated as TENTH Street. SECTION 4.Mona Street in Swinnerton's Addition shall hereafter be known and designated as Liberty Street,and the entire length of Liberty Street projected to the north town limits shall hereafter be designated as Liberty Street. SECTION 5.Rainier Street in SWinnerton's Addition shall here- after be knovm and designated as Union Street and the entire length of Union Street projected to the north town limits shall hereafter be designated as Union Street • SECTION 6.Douglas Street in Swinnerton's Addition shall here- after be known and designated as Quinn Street and the entire length of Quinn Street projected to the north tovm limits shall hereafter be designated as Quinn Street. SECTION 7.That the numerical designation of all doorways and entrances to buildings,lots,yards and grounds fronting upon the several streets,avenues and public places of said town be and the same is hereby established in accordance with the following system as far as paracticable: There shall be one hundred numbers assigned to all the front- ages.situated between any two cross-streets,fifty numbers to each side of the street;the lots,buildings or frontages of each success- iveblock along such street bearing thenllinber of the hundred next higher than the hundred of the block next preceeding;one Whole number to be alloted to each twenty-five feet frontage,or major fraction thereof in each block,and where there shall be more than one <fronta.ge,half numbers shall be used;even numbers shall be used on the Easterly or right hand side of streets and avenues running from south to north and olL numbers on the westerly or left hand side of said streets and avenues.On streets and avenues running from·west to east in said city,even numbers shall be used on'the sou therly side therel:lf,am]QJ;1cp:<'nWJlJJDl>~s on the northerly or left hand side thereof.Incase of irregular streets,avenues or pub.Lic places,the several frontages shall be numbered as near as may be according to the uniform.series of block numbers,as herein provided, with which they most nearly correspond. 206 SECTION 8.The following genel'al plahas:ll"ar asc!:p,::tac ticable shall be pursued by the 'Street Commissioner in assigning the numbers required by this ordinance: -First.--On all streets,avenues or public places running from South to North in said town,the premises or r r-cnt age at the North- west cor-ner of the intersection of any of the first numbered streets running from west to east upon the present platted portion of said town,shall take the hundre.d number plus one corresponding to the number of said street or avenue so intersecting said nor bh and south st;J;'<.J,ep or avenue,and so on,numbering progressively,for sa Id block allo~lng the even and odd numbers as provided in the next preceding section.Each succeeding block northward ta~ing as an initial number the next consecutive hundred plus one in order. Second--On all streets,avenues or public places running from west.to east in said town,the numbering to begin at the northeast corner of the int~rsectionof said street,avenue or pub l.Lc place wi th the number one thou sand one hundred an done,(1101)number'Lng progressively from west to east,each succeeding block eastward taking as an initial number the next consecutive hundred plus one, alloting the $Wem numbers and the odd numbers as in Section Two (2) provided., Third--',On,'s,treets and avenues running from west to east the numbering shall commenoe on the westerly boundaries of;the town with the number one tiho usard and on streets and avenues runningfrom Sou th to North the numbering will commence,at First S,treet with the number one hundred. SEC,TION9.'Whenever by reason of the irregularity of the plats, or for any other reason,there shall be doubt as to thecorreet number provided for any frontage by this ordinance,such number shall be ascertained and defined by the Street Commissioner and reported to the Town cis rk and the sat d Town Clerk shall furnish the said number to any owner,occupant or agent of such frontage upon applica:t1ion th ere for ,and such number'shall be d'eemed rt obe the number of said frontage as provided by this ordinance,upon the further compliance of the appiicant with the reqUirements of Section Ten (10)of this Ordinance. SECTION 10.A,record of such numbering shall be kept by the Town Clerk in a plat or map provided for that purpqse,and such, record shall be evidence of the respective numbers or designations aforesaid,The Street Commissioner under the direction,of the Committee on Street and Lights,shall prepare the necessary plat or plats,map or maps,'showing the numbers to be assigned to all lots,bUildings and frontages situated upon the streets and avenues of said town as above described,and no owner,or other person shall affiX a street number to any building in said town other than that shown by the record and maps aforesaid as belonging to theiocat£6n of said bUilding,on and after the 1st day at'July 1929 without haVing first obtained from the Town Clerk the number assigned as aforesaid. The number at'all dwellings,business houses or other structures erected on or after the 1st day of July 1929 shall be supplied to the owners,agents or occupants of slichbuildings by the Town Clerk upon application to him for his certificate thereof.Said Clerk shall issue to the applicant therefor a certificate,gi vingthe humber,the name of the occupant,agent or owner and the location of the premises to be numbered and shall make a record thereof in his off ice.The numbers shall be procured by the applican t at his own expense and affixed to t re building or place of business to which it be.pngs'in a oonspiouous plaoe,either above or at the side of the fron t entrance of said.building or place of business,and shall be thereafter maintained by the owner or agent of said building or place or ,b~ness. SECTION 11.Each of the figures of every number shall be not .le ss than"three (3)Lnch es in length and not less than one and one-half (It)inches in Width,being so marked as to be easily r-ead: .".."'.'.""'" n, I ! ,----,-,-,,-~,--.._~,---- ORDINANCE No.266.(Contfd) SECTION 11.Each ot the rigures of every number shall be not less than three (3)inches in length and not less than one and one-half (li)inches in width,being so marked as to be easily read. SECTION 12.Any person being the owner or agent of any build- ing erected in the Town of Marysville on Clt'arter the 1st day of July,1929,who,arter being notified in wri1t;i.ng by the Street Commissioner of said town that the street numbers are of record at the office of the Town Clerk,shall for the period of thirty (30)days thereafter neglect or refuse to number any bUilding owned or represented by him as agent,in conformity With the provisions of this ordinanoe shall be deemed guilty of a mis- demeanor,and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding the sum of ten ($10.00)Dollars and be ad- jUdged to pay the costs of the prosecution. SECTION 13.If any number shall have been heretofore placed upon or over the doorway or entrance of any bUilding or premises, which said number does not conform with the provisions of this ordinance,the owner or agent of any such building or premises shall rorthwith remove and correct the s~ae. SECTION 14.Any person,firm or corporation failing to or rerusing to comply with any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined in any sum not exceeding the sum of ten ($10.00) Dollars and be adjudged to pay the costs of prosecution. SECTION 15.All ordinances or parts of ordinanoes in oonfliot with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 16.This Ordinanoe shall tqke effect an be in force from and arter its passage,approval and publication as provided by law.
