HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-0287 - Dances and dance halls (Repealed by 1636)r·~~------~-~._---~-~---------- ,89 ORDINANCE No.M7. ~~;' "' t BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWN cs MARYSVILLE,WASHING'fON: SECTION .1.No person shall bold any public dance without first objaining a permit and license from the Clerk,following the pay- ment to the 'fown Treasurer of a license fee of Three ($3.00)Dol- lars for each such permit or license granted,nor shall any person .90nduct or lIl8.1ntain any dance hall without first procuring a license so to do,from the Clerk.Licenses for public dances,dance halls or any place .where dancing is carried on"except as her-e Ln provided, shall Pe issued by the year or by the quarter,as requested by the applicant.No license to conduct dance halls or .public dances shall be granted<until application for said license shall be approved nor any license granted to any person who is not of good moral character. No such license shall be granted to any corporation,but if any dance hallbe conducted as herein provided by a corporation,a license shall be issued to the manager or any other directing head thereof. 'J.'belicense fee or tax for public dance halls shall be One Hundred ($100.00)Dollars per year. SECTION 2.Any license granted hereunder to conduct a dance hall or public dance,except as herein provided,may be revoked by the mayor and the action of said mayor in revoking any such license shall be final and conclusive.~ach licensee accepting a license hereunder shall be deemed to have consented to the provisions of this section, With respect to the cancellation of licenses. No license granted hereunder shall be transferable,without the consent of the mayor,nor shall any public dance or dance hall be conducted at any other place than that specified in the Lt cerise therefor.- SECTION 3.No person operating a public dance or public dance hall shall issue to any patron of such pUbli~:B~dance hall any check,pass,ticket or other token authorizing such patron to leave the public dance hall in which such public da~is being conducyed, and to return to the same without charge,but any patron who leaves &Qsa ~ualie such public dance or hall shall,upon his return thereto, be required by the person operating or conducting such public dance or public dance hall,to pay the full admission fee. SECTION 4.No immoral or indecent dance shall be given or carried on in any place licensed under the prOVision of this ordinance. Every such bUilding or other place used for public dan~ing shall be kept in a clean,healthful and sanitary condition,and all dance halls,corridors and stairways connected therewith shall at all times be open to the public and be fully lighted.No public dance or dance hall shall be conducted or operated between the hours of of one A.M.and six A.M. on any dayyor night of the week and no public dance or-dance halls shall be.conducted or operated between the hours of one A.M.of any Sunday and six A.M.the following ]vlonday. SECTION 5.All peace officers of the Town of Marysville and of the State of Washington shalll have free access to the public dances and dance halls,for the purpose of inspection and to enforce com- pliance with the provi~ions of this ordinance • ••!,11 ;!hi t!. ~~..I.-""V~ ~ v- 90 ._--~~-_. No person under the age of eighteen years shall be permitted to attend any public dance or dance hall,without the escort of his or her parent or guardian. SEOTION 6.No person under.the influence of intoxicating liQuor shall be permitted to or allowed to remain.at or in any public dance or dance hall,and no boisterous conduct shall bealldwed on the part of any person attending any public dance .or dance hall,and any person found guilty of violating this'section . shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,and punished as herein~fter set forth. SEOTION 7.Any person Or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordina~ce shall be gUilty ofami$de~eanor and upon convict ion thereof,shall be punished by a fine in any sum not exceeding OneH1.lndred ($lOO.OOl Dollars orbyimprisdn- ment in the city jail for a period not exceeding thirty (30). days,or by both such fine and imprisonment... SEOTION 8.Whenever or Whereever an officer or officers are .tlleQuired to police a public dance,the expense thereof shall be borne by the dance licensee,and such offi.ce·r shall be approved by the Town Marshall before being allowed to serve. SECTION 9.All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed •.
