ORDINANCE 461
An ordinance requiring the keeping of dogs on the premises of the
owner or custodian thereof except when on leash,defining offenses,
authoriring impounding and prescribing,penalties,all subject to
the referendum at the general election of November 8th,1960,
providing for the certification of said referendum proposition
and prescrihing the ballot title.
BE IT ORDAINED BY 'rHE COUNCIL OF 'rHE TOWN OF MARYSVILLE:
Section 1.
It is unlawful for the owner or custodian of any dog to ca~se,
permit or allow such dog to rpam,,\run,stray,or to be away'Tnom"
the premises of such owner or custodian and to be on any public
place,or on any public property,or the priv.:ate property of
another in the Tol'ffi of MarySVille,unless such dog whi;Le away
from such premises be controlled by a leash not more than 8
feet in length,such control to be exercised by such owner or
custodiah or other competent and outhprized person,and any
dog found roaming,running,straying or being away frpm such
premises and not on leash as herein provided may be impounded
subject to redemption in the manner provided by ordinance
No.458..
Section 2.
Anyone Violating or failing to comply with the provisions of
Section 1 of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine not
exceeding $300.00,or by imprisonment for 3 months,or by
both such fine anq i~prisonment.

Section 3.
'I'ha t sections 1 and 2 of this ordinance be submitted to the
qualified electors (voters)of the Town of MarySVille at
the ,general election of November 8th,1960 for ratification or
rejection of said proposition which shall be voted upon in the
following manner:
There shall be placed upon the ballot a ,statement and caption
of said propQsitioTl in substantially the following :t;orm:

Shall Sections 1 and :2 of Ordinance No.461 ,which
require the keeping of dogs on the premises of the owner or
custodian thereof,unless such dog while away from such premises
be controlled by lease;defining offenses,authorizing impounding
and prescribing penalties,be ratified and confirmed?
Yes _No "
Every qualified elector (voter)at such election desiring to
vote in favor of the ratification of said ordinace sections
shall vote a ballot containing the word "yes".
Every qualified elector (voter)at such election desiring to
vote for rejection of said ordinance sections shall vote a
ballot containing the word "no".

Ordinance 461 continued
Not less than 45 days before such election,the Town Clerk
shall certify to the County Auditor such proposition in the form
of a ballot title conforming to the foregoing statement of the
same,anq certify therewith a copy of Sections 1 and 2 of thlli
ordinance in full.
Section 4.
Sections 1 a nd 2 of this ordinance shall take effect and be in
force after'ratification by the electors (voters),and the :remain-
ing sections shall take effect and be in force from and.aftiif
the pUblication of this ordinance.
