THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE.WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN
A$;FO~\'lS:
SECTION 1.Pursuant to the authority conferred by Chapter 13
of tb,e,laws of 1931 of.the State of Washington (Chapter 41.12.Revisedi::od~ofWashington)there is.hereby created a City CivU Service
Co~~~sion to execute the powers and .perform the duties established
by SU9h State law in oonnection with the selection.appointment and
emplo~qnt of police,includiJ;lg the Chief of Police of the City of
Ma~y§vllJ,e.',".,',..,""..,,_.".,
Section 2.Such commission shall be composed of three members
'cto be appointed by the Mayor,who shall flerve without compensati;on.
Such Commissioners shall have the qualifications prescribed by ,
,3~e~H,!ljIu3 of said Act.
;",SECTION ,.All applicants for employment with the police force
of,~he,gity of Marysville sha~l ~e required to have the qualifications
1)~.,~u1)jectto competitive examinations,have a tenure of of1'ice.and
be sub j'ect to remova~as provided by the civil service regUlations
adopted by suoh Commission consistent with said Chapter 13.Laws of

if "SECTION 4.Such Commission upon appointment,qualification and
O,l'g~J;I:l,;a'tion shall hold meetings,adopt rules and regulations,por-
form'1;1le,duties and exercise the powerfl 01'fluch Commisflion in com-
pliance With the State law governing same.
,./:'SECTIoN 5.All members of the present police force of .the City
~;fjMaJ:'ysvilleshall be eligible to the benefits accruing under sa.d
Chap;t,e:t:;J.3,La,WfI of 1931 of the State of Washington and thifl ordinance
by compliance with the regulationfl of the Commission and upon
~ucqes~;fullY qualify~ng for permanent appointment and promotion on
~eJ:':l,t,;e;ff:iciency and fitnesfI which shall be ascert~ined by open
c()II/l1,e,t~~1ve examination and impartial invest~gation.

SECT10N6.'!'he provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
flever~ble~~nd if:any part or section of the ordinance flhall be held
