HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-1325 - Adds Sec. 10.20.120 and amends Sec. 10.20.010, 10.20.030, 10.20.040, 10.20.050(a), 10.20.090 and 10.20.150, dogs and cats (Repealed by 2013)"-.:~",'7 ~-.~...,-.-~ CIT Y 0 F MAR Y S V ILL E Marysville,Washington ORDINANCE NO.1125 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AMENDING SECTIONS 10.20.010,10.20.030,10.20.040,10.20.050, AND 10.20.090 OF THE MARYSVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO DOGS AND CATS,AND THE LICENSING OF DOGS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.Section 10.20.010 of the Marysville ~1unici­ pal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: Licensing Required.It is unlawful for any person,firm or corporation to own,possess,harbor or otherwise be the custodian for any dog over the age of three (3)months within the City of Marysville unless the person,firm or corporation has first pro- cured a license therefor as provided in this chapter. Section 2.Section 10.20.030 of the Marysville Munici- pal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: License Fees.The following fees shall be paid for licenses under this chapter: Unaltered male dogs Unaltered female dogs Neutered dogs ... Replacement of metal tags •.. $5.00 per year $10.00 per year $10.00 per lifetime $0.50 Section 3.Section 10.20.040 of the.Marysville Munici- pal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: Term of Renewal of Licenses.All licenses required under this chapter,except the lifetime license for neutered dogs, shall expire on O$C£HIltF/f 1/'of each year.Annual license fees shall 'Ordinance -1 be due and payable within thirty (30)days after acquisition of ado g and wi thin forty-five (45)days after January 1st of each year.A penalty charge of $5.00 shall be added to any license fee which is delinquent. Section 4.Section 10.20.050(a)of the Marysville Municipal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: (a)The Animal Control Officer of the City of Marysville may impound dogs and cats which fall into one or more of the follow- J.ng categories: (1)Those which are not licensed pqrsuant to this chapter; (2)Those which do not·exhibit the identification tag required by this chapter? (3)Stray animals as defined by this chapter; (4)Biting dogs as defined by this chapter: (5)vicious dogs as defined by this chapter; (6)Dogs in heat which are running at large; (7)Noisy dogs or cats as defined by this chapter; (8)Trespassing dogs and cats as defined by this chapter; (9)Dogs running in packs; (10)Chasing or intimidating dogs as defined in this chapter; (11)Dogs habitually running at large in violation of Chap- ter 10.24;. (12)Dogs and cats which are declared pUblic nuisances,but which have not been abated pursuant to notice. Section 5.Section 10.20.090 is hereby amended to provide as follows: vicious Dogs To Be Restrained.It is unlawful for any per- son,firm or corporation which owns,possesses,harbors,or has control or charge of any dog which is known or in the exercise of reasonable Ordinance - 2 care should be known to be vicious or to have a propensity to bite,to allow the same to run at large and not under restraint. Section 6.A new Section 10.20.120 of the Marysville Municipal Code is hereby enacted to provide as follows: 10.20.120.Chasing and Intimidating Dogs Prohibited. It is unlawful for any person,firm or corporation which owns, possesses,harbors,or has control or charge of any dog which is known or in the exercise of reasonable care should be known to chase,run after or jump at vehicles or bikes using public streets,alleys and sidewalks,or which habitually snaps,growls, snarls,jumps at or upon or otherwise threatens persons lawfully using public streets,alleys or sidewalks,to allow the same to run at large and not under restraint. Section 7.Section 10.20.150 of the Marysville Munici- pal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: 10.20.150.Penalty for Violations.Any violation of this chapter is a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $300.00. f!PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this IJ '::J day of D6~&Hd~1t ,1983.
