HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-1333 - Amends subsections (f) and (g) of Sec. 3.64.060, tax rebate (3.64)CIT Y 0 F MAR Y S V ILL E Marysville,Washington ORDINANCE NO.1333- AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AMENDING SECTIONS 3.64.060(f)AND 3.64.060(g)OF THE MARYSVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE TO ALLOW A UTILITY TAX REBATE FOR CERTAIN LOW-INCOME SENIOR CITIZENS AND HANDICAPPED PERSONS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON,DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.Section 3.64.060(f)of the Marysville Munici- pal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: (f)The person claiming the rebate must have been quali- fied in one of the following categories throughout the period for which the rebate is claimed: (1)Said person must be 62 years of age or older. Any surviving spouse of a person who was qualified for a rebate at the time of that person's death shall qualify if said surviv- ing spouse is 57 years of age or older and otherwise meets the requirements of this section. OR (2)Said person must be handicapped or disabled to the following extent:any person who has lost both of his or her lower extremiti~s, or who has lost the normal or full use thereof, or who is so severely disabled as to be unable to move without the aid of crutches or wheel- chair,or who has lost both hands. Section 2.Section 3.64.060(g)of the Marysville Munici- pal Code is hereby amended to provide as follows: (g)The combined income,from all sources whatsoever,of the person claiming the rebate,his or her spouse,and any co-tenant occupying the dwelling unit for the calendar year during which the utility tax was paid,shall not exceed $10,000.00.Provided,that Ordinance - 1 ~~.-..-..,......... ~-.(..>"C .. in calculating income for the purposes of this section,only two- thirds of any social security benefits,federal civil service retire- ment,or railroad retirement pension shall be considered.Further, the gain realized by any person from the sale,transfer,or upon being displaced from his or her residence,shall not be considered as income for purposes of this section if reinvested in a replace- ment residence within eighteen (18)months of its realization. ~1 PASSE Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this ~day of ---.J'.~~U~l-_---'1984.
