AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AMENDING SECTION
7.08.115 (e)AND (f)OF THE MARYSVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR REDUCED RATES
FOR GARBAGE COLLECTION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.Section 7.08.115 (e)of the Marysville Municipal
Code is hereby amended to provide as follows:
(e)The person claiming eligibility for the "senior
citizen"rate must qualify in one of the following
categories:
(1)Low income senior citizen.The person must
be 62 years of age or older and must have a total
income,including that of his or her spouse or co-
tenant,which does not exceed $14,000 per year.
(2)Low income disabled citizen.The person must
be handicapped or disabled in one of the following
ways:
(a)loss of both lower limbs;
(b)loss of normal or full use of the lower
limbs to sufficiently constitute a severe dis-
ability;
(c)so severely disabled that the person
cannot move without the aid of crutches or a
wheelchair;
(d)loss of both hands;
(e)suffers from lung disease to such an
extent that forced expiratory respiratory volume,
when measured by spirometry,is less than 1 litre
per second;
(f)impairment by cardiovascular disease to
the extent that the person's functional limita-
tions are classified as Class III or Class IV

under the standards adopted by the American Heart
Association;or
(g)blind as defined by RCW 74.18.020.
Further,the total income of such person,includ-
ing that of his or her spouse or co-tenant,shall
not exceed 125%of the federal poverty level
($5,770 for a one-person household and $7,730 for
a two-person household).
Section 2.Section 7.08.115 (f)of the Marysville Municipal
Code is hereby amended to provide as follows:
(f)Claims for low income senior citizen,or low
income disabled citizen,garbage and refuse collection rates
shall be made annually and filed between September 1 and
October 31 of each year.Claims shall be filed on forms
prescribed and furnished by the City Clerk.Said forms
shall require the claimant to certify his or her eligibility
under this Chapter.
