I~"P~ I.~~~ I~~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AMENDING SECTIONS 10.24.010 AND 10.24.020 OF THE MARYSVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE DECRIMINALIZING CERTAIN ANIMAL CONTROL REGULATIONS AND PROVIDING FOR DISPOSITION UNDER RULES OF PROCEDURE FOR INFRACTIONS. WHEREAS,Section 10.24.010 of the Marysville Municipal Code makes it a criminal violation for the owner or custodian of a dog to allow the dog to run without a leash;and WHEREAS,the City Council has authority to regulate matters of animal usage and animal control;and WHEREAS,the City Council finds it in the best interests of the city to decriminalize the leash law restrictions contained in sections 10.24.010 and 10.24.020 MMC,and allow such cases to be determined as a civil infraction;NOW,THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 1.section 10.24.010 of the Marysville Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 10.24.010 Leash Required.It shall be a civil infraction for the owner or custodian of any dog to cause,permit or allow such dog to roam,run,stray,or to be away from the premises of such owner or custodian and to be on any public place,or on any public property,or the private property of another in the city of Marysville,unless such dog,while away from such premises,is controlled by a leash not more than eight (8)feet in length,such control to be exercised by such owner or custodian or other competent and authorized person.Any dog found roaming,running, straying or being away from such premises and not on a leash as provided in this section may be impounded sUbject to redemption in the manner provided by Chapter 10.20.Any case alleging a violation of Section 10.24.010 is to be filed as a civil infraction. 2.section 10.24.020 of the Marysville Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 10.24.020 to comply with Municipal Code ORDINANCE - 1 Imsvl/decrim.ord Penalty for Violations. section 10.24.010 of the has thereby committed an Anyone failing Marysville infraction,and is subject to a civil penalty of up to $300.00.Anyone violating or failing to comply with section 10.24.015 shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $300.00.
