Le: l-24- * kr.cck * CITY OF MARYSVILLE wJ FA Marysville, Washington ORDINANCE NO. 2370 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE READOPTING AND REIMPOSING BUSINESS LICENSE FEES AS ESTABLISHED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2288, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST. WHEREAS, the Marysville City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2288 on October 25, 1999 amending MMC 5.02.070 relating to business license fees; and WHEREAS, on November 7, 2000 the people of the State of Washington passed Initiative 722 which becomes effective on December 7, 2000; and WHEREAS, Section 1 of Initiative 722 renders "tax increases" as defined in that Initiative enacted during the period of July 2, 1999 and December 31, 1999 "null and void"; and WHEREAS, the business license fees established by Ordinance No. 2288 were adopted between this period and set in accordance with the law and the requirements of municipal governance; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The business license fees as adopted by Ordinance No. 2288 and as it amends MMC 5.02.070(1) is hereby readopted and reimposed as if fully set forth herein. Section 2. Emerqency/Effective Date. A public emergency is hereby declared necessary for the protection of public health, public safety, and public property. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its adoption. Section 3. Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality thereof shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance.
