ORDINANCE NO.&'Y/
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE READOPTING AND
REIMPOSING REVISIONS TO COURT COSTS, SURCHARGE FOR
DISHONORED CHECKS, AND CHARGES RELATING TO MULTIPLE
BOOKING FEE AS ESTABLISHED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2289, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST.
WHEREAS, the Marysville City Council adopted Ordinance
No. 2289 on October 25, 1999 amending MMC 2.24.090 relating
to court costs, MMC 2.24.'100 relating to court sessions, MMC
2.24.210 relating to surcharge for dishonored checks, and MMC
2.24.220 relating to multiple booking fee; and
WHEREAS, on November 7, 2000 the people of the State of
Washington passed Initiative 722 which becomes effective on
December 7, 2000; and
WHEREAS, Section 1 of Initiative 722 renders "tax
increases" as defined in that Initiative enacted during the
period of.. July 2, 1999 and December 31, 1999 "null and void";
and
WHEREAS, the costs, charges and fees established by
Ordinance No. 2289 were adopted between this period and set
in accordance with the law and the requirements of municipal
governance;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The costs, charges and fees as adopted by
Ordinance No. 2289 and the amendments to MMC 2.24.090, MMC
2.24.100, MMC 2.24.210, and MMC 2.24.220 are hereby readbpted
and reimposed as if fully set forth herein.
Section 2. Emerqency/Effective Date. A public
emergency ishereby declared necessary for the protection of
public health, public safety, and public property. This
ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
Section 3. Severability. If any section, subsection,
sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance should be
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of
competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or

unconstitutionality thereof shal- not affect the validity or
constitutionality of any other section, subsection, sentence,
clause, phrase or word of this ordinance.
PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor
this 4-4 day of December, 2000.
