HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-2614 - Amends Sec. 2.10.020 and 2.10.040, cable television advisory committee (2.10);:t_•., -r-,~- CITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville,Washington ORDINANCE NO.Uti AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON AMENDING MMC 2.10.020 AND MMC 2.10.040 RELATING TO THE lVlEMBERSHIP AND ORGANIZATION OF THE CABLE TELEVISION ADVISORY COMMITTEE. THE CITY COUNCILOFTHE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON DO ORDAINAS FOLLOWS: Section 1: MMC 2.I0.020 is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.10.020 Membership and terms of office. (I)The committee shall consist of eight members,each of whom shall be appointed by the maYOT,subject to confirmation by the city counci I.The members shall have the following qualifications: (a) Two members shall be elected members of the city council; (b) One member shall be a representative of the Marysville School District; (c)Two members shall be representatives of nonprofit organizations and/or community service groups in the greater Marysville area; (d) Three members shall be at large positions filled by Marysville citizens. (2)Committee members shall serve a term of three years, and until their successors are duly appointed; provided, that the terms of office for three of the first members to be appointed shall be one year so as to provide for staggered retirement dates on the committee. The mayor shall have the right to remove any committee member from office whenever it is deemed to be in the public interest. Section 2: MMC 2.10.040 is hereby amended to read as follows; 2.10.040 Committee organization. The committee shall annually choose one of its members to serve as chairperson for a term of one year. Each of the membersshall have one vote in all business coming before the committee. Four members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.A majority vote of those members present shall be necessary for the adoption or approval of any measure. The committee shall hold regular public meetings at least once a month, or as necessary, and the schedule of the time and place thereof shall be kept in the office of the city clerk. Special meetings may be called at any time upon giving 24 hours' advance notice. Committee members shall serve without compensation, but shall be entitled to reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of their duties on behalfofthe city. If any section,subsection,sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competentjurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality thereof shall not affect the validity or constitutionalityof any other section, subsection, sentence, clause, phraseor word of thisordinance.
