HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-3237 - Setting the EMS Property Tax Levy for Real, Personal and Utility Property Subject to Taxation for 2023CITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville, Washington ORDINANCE NO. �2 �7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COU NCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON , SETTING THE EMS PROPERTY TAX LEVY FOR ALL REAL , PERSONAL , AND UTILITY PROPERTY SUBJECT TO TAXATION WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, W ASIDNGTON FOR THE YEAR 2023. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Marysville has met and considered its budget for the calendar year 2023; and WHEREAS, the City Council has properly given notice of the public hearing held on November 14, 2022 by publishing notice on October 31st, and November 7th of 2022 to consider public comment on the levy for all real, personal, and utility property subject to taxation; and WHEREAS, the City of M arysville's actual levy amount from the previous year was $5,388,681.00, and WHEREAS, the population of the City of M arysville is more than 10,000; and now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON that an increase in the regular property tax levy is hereby authorized for the levy to be collected in the 2023 tax year. SEC TI ON I. The dollar amount of the increase over the actual levy amount from the previous year shall be $725,319.00 which is a percentage increase of 13.46% from the previous year. SECTION 2. This increase is exclusive of additional revenue resulting from new construction, improvements to property, newly constructed wind turbines, solar, biomass, and geothermal facilities, and any increase in the value of state assessed property, any annexations that have occun-ed and refunds made. SECTION 4. Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality thereof shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance. SECTION 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective five days after the date of its publication by summary.
