HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-0803 - Establishing and organizing committees of the council and adopting rules and regulations for conducting of their businessRESOLUTION NO.)(O~ RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE ESTABLISHING AND ORGANIZING COMMITTEES OF THE COUNCIL AND ADOPTING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CONDUCTING OF THEIR BUSINESS WHEREAS,the City Council can best function through various committees as it has done in the past,and this Resolution will better enable the City Council to conduct its business, NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Marysville as follows: ~"".J .t't~1Section2. (f)This committee shall consider subject matte~appropriate to council business relating to health and welfare of public employees, to the police department,to the fire department,and ordinances and resolutions pertaining to those subject matters,and as to those matters,the action taken by the Committee shall be in the form of making recommendations to the Council as a whole unless the Council, on a specific subject matter,has delegated responsibility to the Committee to take action. .. Section 3.The organization,rules and regulations governing the Public Works Committee shall be the following: (a)The Committee shall consist of three to five members of the Council persons. (b)The number of members and the selection of the persons from the Council shall be made by the Mayor in his discretion. (c)The Committee will choose its own Chairman. (d)The Committee shall hold its regular meeting on the third.(3rd)Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.in the City Council chambers at the City Hall. (e)From time to time the Committee may hold such addi- tional special meetings as it desires,provided there is compliance with the Open Meeting Act and its subsequent amendments. (f)This Committee shall consider subject matters appro- priate to council business relating to the water department,sewer department,garbage department,street department,and ordinances and resolutions pertaining to those subject matters,and as to those matters,the action taken by the Committee shall be in the form of making recommendations to the Council as a whole unless the Council, on a specific subject matter,has delegated responsibility to the Committee to take action. Section 4. The organization,rules and regulations governing the General Government Committee shall be the following: (a)The Committee shall consist of three to five members of the Council persons. (b)The number of members and the selection of the persons from the Council shall be made by the Mayor in his discretion. (c)The Committee will choose its own Chairman. (d)This Committee shall hold its regular meeting on the 1st'Monday'of efl.\,:h month!commencing at 8:30 p.m.in the City Council chambers at tire City Hall. Se'ction 5.The organization,rules and regulations govern- ing the Special Committees shall be as follows: (a)Each shall consist of three to five members of the Council. (b)Each shall be established for a specific purpose and shall exist only until such purpose is accomplished or until dissolved by the Mayor. (c)Only the Mayor can establish such special committees and the committees shall consist of the number and the persons from the Council as the Mayor in his discretion may determine. (d)The Committee shall consider only matters relating to the specific purpose for which it is established,and also shall consider only pertinent legal documents pertaining to that purpose.
