A Resolution of the city of Marysville authorizing joint participation with other Washington Munici- palities and the Association of Washington Cities in a self-insurance feasibility study. WHEREAS,the cost,availability,and adequacy of insurance coverage for cities is a major concern to the City of Marysville,and; WHEREAS,joining together with other cities for joint self- insurance and/or joint purchase of insurance coverages is an alternative to conventional insurance purchase,claim,and risk management procedures, and; WHEREAS,the City of Marysville is interested in obtaining in- formation regarding the cost and feasibility of joint self-insurance and/ or joint insurance purchase and joint claims and risk management,and; WHEREAS,it is recogniz.ed that such information can best be ob- tained through an analysis of the various questions involved in this mat- ter by a properly qualified insurance consulting firm acting under the supervision of and pursuant to a contract with an agency serving the Cities and having no financial interest in the outcome of the study,and; WHEREAS,the Association of Washington Cities is willing to serve as project manager for such a study,and would provide such coordination and monitoring services as may be required by such cities as may join to- gether to fund such a study,and; WHEREAS,the City recognizes that funding by cities desiring the benefits of such a study is necessary in order to assure the objectivity and prompt completion of the study; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the City of Marysville wishes to fund,jointly with other cities,a project to examine the feasibility, cost and operating procedures of a pooling arrangement involving joint self- insurance and/or joint purchase of insurance and joint claims and risk man- agement,such project to be controlled by representatives of the cities pro- viding funding support,and managed and coordinated by the Association of Washington Cities;and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the city Administrator is authorized to enter into necessary agreements with the Association of Washington Cities to carry out the intent of this resolution;and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the city of Narysville shall pay to the Association of Washington cities the sum of $723.00 dollars as its pro- portionate share of the costs of the study project on or before March 28, 1979.
