A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A POLICE
PATROL CAR AND WAIVING THE REQUIREMENT TO SOLICIT
BIDS
WHEREAS,within the last thirty days the City's 1984 Chevrolet
patrol vehicle was severely damaged in a collision and will not
return to service;and
WHEREAS,the City has only four police patrol cars remaining in
its fleet,thereby jeopardizing pUblic safety;and
WHEREAS,a bid process for the acquisition of a new patrol car
would take approximately sixty days,and delivery time for a new
vehicle would be an additional ten to twelve weeks;and
WHEREAS,the City has located a police patrol vehicle which is
immediately available for lease/purchase on terms which are competi-
tive with the cost of purchasing a vehicle;NOW,THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Marysville,
Washington,as follows:
1.The City hereby declares that a pUblic safety emergency
exists as a result of the loss .of one of the five police patrol
vehicles owned by the City.
2.Because the City cannot continue to jeopardize public
safety during the time period necessary to solicit bids for the
acquisition of a replacement police patrol vehicle,the City Council
hereby waives the statutory bid requirements and authorizes the City
Administrator to negotiate a lease/purchase of a police patrol vehi-
cle.
