A RESOLUTION OF THE C!~OF,MARYSVILLE
HONORING NORMAN R.ANDERSON,MAYOR
WHEREAS,Norman R.Anderson served the City of Marysville as .
an elected member of the City Council from January 1978 to
January 1984,and as the Mayor of the City from January 1984
through December 1987;and
WHEREAS,the City gratefully acknowledges the benefits which
it has received from Mayor Anderson's dedication to public
service,and desires to memorialize Mayor Anderson's accomplish-
ments by means of this Resolution;NOW,THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON,
hereby commends and honors Norman R.Anderson for the following
outstanding achievements during his term of office:
1.Public Safety.Selection and appointment of highly
qualified chiefs for the Police Department and Fire Department,
and support and encouragement of the efforts of those chiefs in
.building professiqnally-qualified,competent and efficient
departments.The g~owth of the Fire Department during Mayor'
Anderson's term of office is particularly exemplified by the
present staff of six full-time firemen and the 24-hourwatch
program.
2.Public Streets and Utilities.

of the Sno-Water Association,which includes six municipal
jurisdictions in North Snohomish County.
5.Commercial Development.Urban renewal of eight square
blocks of downtown Marysville by the construction of the Towne
Center Mall.This project finally implements the City's long-
range vision for revitalization of .its commercial core,and could
not have been accomplished without significant participation of a
technical and political nature by Mayor Anderson.In addition,
Mayor Anderson has been instrumental in encouraging other
significant commercial developments along State Avenue,including

the Fred Meyer complex at the northern"City limits.These
developments upgrade the character of the City and'provide a
sound tax base for future generations .."
6.Financial Stability.Throughout a period of increasing
pressure on public finances,the City has maintained sound fiscal
po~icies which have resulted in financial stability.This is an
important ,legacy which Mayor Anderson is leaving to help the City
face the challenges of the future.
7.auman Services.The City has developed a program of
providing funds for human services through grants to the YMCA,
the Washington ,Literacy Council and the Stillaguamish Senior
Center.These grants benefit all citizens of the Greater
Marysville Community.
