A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE CALLING FOR AN
ELECTION AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL TAX LEVY TO BE MADE
EACH YEAR FOR SIX (6)CONSECUTIVE YEARS COMMENCING IN
1989 FOR COLLECTION IN 1990 IN AN AMOUNT OF TWENTY-FIVE
CENTS (25¢)PER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00)OF
ASSESSED VALUATION,THE PROCEEDS OF SUCH LEVY TO BE
USED FOR THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE AND
SERVICES.
WHEREAS,there has been a rapid increase in demand by the
citizens of the city for public provision of emergency medical
care and medical services,and said demand has imposed extraordi-
nary financial burdens upon the City's general revenues;and
WHEREAS,it would be in the public interest for personnel in
the Marysville Fire Department to receive advanced life-support
training;and
WHEREAS,it would be in the public interest for additional
personnel to be hired for the Marysville Fire Department,and
capital improvements to be made and equipment,supplies and
vehicles obtained for the provision of emergency medical care and
services;and
WHEREAS,pursuant to RCW 84.52.069,a special levy may be
assessed for the purpose of funding emergency medical care and
services;NOW,THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.There shall be submitted to the qualified
electors of the City for their ratification or rejection,at an
election to be held on November 7,1989,the question of whether
or not a tax of twenty-five cents (25¢)per one thousand dollars
($1,000.00)of assessed valuation should be levied in each year
for six (6)consecutive years,commencing with the year 1989 for
collection in 1990.All taxes collected pursuant to this levy
shall be used only for the provision of emergency medical care or
emergency medical services,including related personnel costs,
advanced life-support training,and related equipment,supplies,
vehicles and structures needed for the provision of emergency
medical care or emergency medical services.

Section 2.The Auditor of Snohomish County,as ex officio
supervisor of elections,is hereby directed to place a propo-
sition worded substantially as follows on the general election
ballot scheduled for November 7,1989:

ADVANCED LIFE-SUPPORT TRAINING
Shall the City of Marysville be authorized to
impose an additional regular property tax
levy in an amount equal to twenty-five cents
(25¢)per one thousand dollars ($1,000.00)of
assessed valuation in each year for six (6)
consecutive years commencing with the year
1989 for collection in 1990,for the purpose
of funding emergency medical services
including advanced life-support training?

section 3.The tax levy provided for herein must be
approved by a majority of at least three-fifths (3/5)of the
electors of the City voting on the proposition,at which election
the number of persons voting "yes"on the proposition shall
constitute three-fifths (3/5)of a number equal to forty (40)
percentum of the total votes cast in the City at the last
preceding general election,when the number of electors voting on
the proposition does not exceed forty (40)percentum of the total
votes cast in the city in the last preceding general election;or
by a majority of at least three-fifths (3/5)of the electors of
the City voting on the proposition to levy when the number of
electors voting on the proposition exceeds forty (40)percentum
of the total votes cast in the City in the last preceding general
election.
