A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE DENYING A
PETITION TO VACATE ASH AVENUE.
WHEREAS,Ray E.Thorsen submitted a petition to the city of
Marysville requesting vacation of that portion of Ash Avenue
lying between Second Street N.E.and Third Street N.E.;and
WHEREAS,on October 23,1989 and November 27,1989 the City
Council held pUblic hearings on said petition;and
WHEREAS,evidence was submitted by the Washington State
Department of Transportation indicating that the vacation of Ash
Avenue would not be in the pUblic interest as it would preclude
the development of a "Park and Ride"lot on abutting property;
and
WHEREAS,a comprehensive solution to the parking problem in
this neighborhood has been agreed upon by all affected parties,
and will include the following elements:
a.Ash Avenue will remain open as a pUblic street.
b.Ash Avenue will be widened between Second Street
and Third Street and angle parking will be installed on both
sides of Ash Avenue.This area will serve a joint function
of providing local parking and being a "Park and Ride"lot
for commuters.
c.The cost of this project will be shared on a
joint-venture basis by the city,Community Transit,the
Washington State Department of Transportation and the owner
of the abutting property to the east.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS:
The petition of Ray E.Thorsen for the vacation of that
portion of Ash Avenue lying between Second Street N.E.and Third
Street N.E.is hereby DENIED.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND APPROVED BY THE MAYOR THIS
