HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1513 - Honoring Robert Lashua CouncilmemberCIT Y 0 F MAR Y S V ILL E Marysville,Washington RESOLUTION NO.It{13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE HONORING ROBERT LASHUA,COUNCILMEMBER. WHEREAS,ROBERT LASHUA served the city of Marysville as an elected member of the City Council from January 1977 through December,1981,and from January 1985 through December,1991;and WHEREAS,the city gratefully acknowledges the benefits which it has received from Councilmember Lashua's dedication to pUblic service,and desires to memorialize Councilmember Lashua's accomplishments by means of this Resolution;NOW,THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON, hereby commends and honors Robert Lashua for the following outstanding achievements during his term of office: 1.Public Safety.Support and encouragement of the efforts of the Police and Fire Departments in building professionally-qualified,competent and efficient departments. 2.Public Facilities.A new library,remodel of city Hall,golf course maintenance shop,remodel of the Lloyd Taubeneck Building,a new Public Safety Center,City Hall space reorganization,and a new Park and Recreation Facility. 3.Park &Recreation.continued dedication and support of the Park and Recreation programs of the City of Marysville. 4.Public Streets and utilities.A wide range of public street and utilities projects were undertaken during . Councilmember Lashua's years of dedication to the city of Marysville.These include but are not limited to Cedar Avenue Improvements,SR 528 Improvements,76th Street N.E.Improvements, Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements,and the Water Transmission main from Everett to Marysville. 5.Regional Programs.Development of regional consensus regarding public water supply and distribution,and establishment of a Joint Operating Agreement between the Tulalip Tribes of Washington and Snohomish County PUD.The merger of the Marysville Fire Department and Snohomish County Fire Protection District #12 will be a major step towards regionalism in the Marysville area. 6.Boards &Committees:councilmember Lashua has been the City's representative to many boards and committees both locally and regionally during his tenure as Councilmember.These include Cable Franchise Negotiating Committee,Marysville Community Television Advisory Committee,Parks &Recreation Committee,Puget Sound Council of Governments,and Snohomish County Tomorrow. \ <t ~" .'i _~.~"-.t .rREr,OLUTION NO.~ Page 2 7.Financial Stability.Throughout a period of increasing pressure on pUblic finances,Councilmember Lashua has assisted the City in maintaining sound fiscal policies which have resulted in financial stability.
