HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1685 - Establishing a safety committee for the City of MarysvilleCIT Y 0 F MAR Y S V ILL E Marysville,Washington RESOLUTION NO./~8'r A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE ESTABLISHING A SAFETY COMMITTEE FOR THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE. WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council recognizes its role of stewardship over the assets of the City of Marysville,both human and property,and WHEREAS,the city views its responsibility in this area as requiring a high level of concern for the safety of its employees and its citizens,combined with a concern that the maximum protection be accorded City property to prevent financial loss,and WHEREAS,in order to conform to the tenor and terms of the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act of 1973,this Resolution is established in order to provide for the affirmative safety policies of the city; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.The City of Marysville does hereby form a Personnel Safety &Public Liability Committee to: a.Conduct periodic inspections of any work place of any employee of the City of Marysville,inclUding all equipment owned and/or operated by the City, and report findings to appropriate Department Head,Risk Manager and City Administrator. b.Review each accident involving personal injury or property damage and make recommendations to eliminate repetitions. c.Assist in the development of policies regarding personnel safety and liability and recommend education programs. d.Recommend for adoption such ordinances or resolutions that will reasonably be required in order to administer and enforce the industrial safety and health of the employees of the City of Marysville. RESOLUTION NO. Page 2 Section 2.The Personnel Safety &Public Liability Committee shall hold quarterly meetings.Each City department shall hold monthly safety meetings within their department. Section 3.The membership of the Personnel Safety & Public Liability Committee will annually elect a chairperson. Section 4.The Risk Manager will assist the chairperson in the overall operation of the Safety Committee. Section 5.The Mayor and City Council calls upon each department of the city to cooperate in the work of the Personnel Safety and Public Liability Committee by giving generously of the time and talents of appropriate personnel in order that the loss control function of that Committee may be carried out in its fullest capability,to the resultant benefit of the City of Marysville,its employees and citizens. this L4PASSED by4>""/\day of the City ~ THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE MAY 0 R Approved as to Form: /2~/c:iJ'~ 6ity Attorney
