HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1806 - Initiating annexation of an area contiguous to the city known as the Indian Creek area; requesting the Snohomish County Council to call an election thCITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville,Washington RESOLUTION NO.I gD~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE INITIATING ANNEXATION OF AN AREA CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY KNOWN AS THE INDIAN CREEK AREA; REQUESTING THE SNOHOMISH COUNTY COUNCIL TO CALL AN ELECTION THEREON ON SEPTEMBER 17,1996;AND TRANSMITTING THE MATTER TO THE SNOHOMISH COUNTY BOUNDARY REVIEW BOARD FOR APPROVAL. WHEREAS,the City of Marysville has received a petition for annexation of certain property located north of 104th Street N.E.,said property being contiguous to the City limits and legally described in Exhibit A attached hereto;and WHEREAS,the petition to annex has been submitted by the election method pursuant to RCW 35A.14.020,et seq.;and WHEREAS,said petition has been submitted to and confirmed by the Snohomish County Elections Division to represent ten percent (10%)of the votes cast as the last general election;and WHEREAS,a duly-advertised public hearing was held on said petition before the Marysville City Council on May 28,1996,and the petitioner and the public appeared and the Council was fully advised in the premises;NOH,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS: Section 1.The property described in Exhibit A is hereby approved for submittal to the electors at the primary election date,September 17,1996,or,alternatively,November 5,1996 only in the event there are unanticipated delays in the review process,and pending approval by the Boundary Review Board the Snohomish County Auditor is hereby requested to set such matter for election on September 17,1996,or,alternatively,November 5,1996 only in the event there are unanticipated delays in the review process. Section 2.Upon annexation of the property described in Exhibit A,it shall be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basi's as other property within the City of Marysville, including assessments or taxes for the payment of its pro rata share and all outstanding indebtedness of the City contracted or incurred prior to or existing on the effective date of the annexation. Section 3.Upon annexation of the property described in Exhibit A,the Marysville comprehensive Plan designation of Medium Density Single-Family and 7.oning of RS-9600 shall apply. RESOLUTION - 1 /mv/indiancr.res ·\ Section 4.The City Planner is hereby authorized to transmit certified copies of this resolution,a County Assessor's map,and other appropriate information in the files on this annexation to the Snohomish County Boundary Review Board and the Snohomish County Council,together with an appropriate notice of intent to annex. Section 5.The City Planner is hereby directed to provide notice to the petitioners of the action by mail or by publication once a week for at least two weeks.
