HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1857 - Establishing its support for the removal of Tobacco Advertising on AK Media BillboardsMAYOR Approved as to form: WHEREAS,AK Media/NW signed an agreement with the Seattle-King County Department of Public Health dated July 3, 1997, which will have the effect of eliminating all tobacco advertising from AK Media/NW billboards in King County as of January 1, 1998; CITY OF MARYSVILLE PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this 25th day of August, 1997. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON that on behalf of the citizens of the City of Marysville, AK MedialNW is hereby requested to voluntarily eliminate all of its billboard advertising of tobacco within the City of Marysville and within the remainder of Snohomish County by January 1, 1998. WHEREAS,the Snohomish County Health District Board of Health sent a letter to AK MedialNW dated July 9, 1997, requesting that AK Media/NW voluntarily eliminate all billboard advertising of tobacco in Snohomish County as of January 1, 1998; and CITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville,Washington WHEREAS,the Marysville City Council is in total support of the Snohomish County Health District Board of Health's letter to AKlMedia dated July 9, 1997; and RESOLUTION NO.IPG=t A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE ESTABLISHING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE REMOVAL OF TOBACCO ADVERTISING ON AK MEDIA BILLBOARDS. WHEREAS,the Marysville City Council recognizes the negative health impact which tobacco has and the influence which billboard advertising has on the perceptions of our children and youth about tobacco products; and ~,<,LU..-uQ CITY ATTORNEY
