HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2058 - Honoring Donna Pedersen CouncilmemberCITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville,Washington RESOLUTION NO.;;l068 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE HONORING DONNA PEDERSEN,COUNCILMEMBER. WHEREAS, DONNA PEDERSEN served the City of Marysville as an elected member of the City Council from November, 1989 through December, 2001; and WHEREAS, the City gratefully acknowledges the benefits which it has received from Councilmember Pedersen's dedication to public service, and desires to memorialize Councilmember Pedersen's accomplishments by means of this Resolution; NOW,THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON,hereby commends and honors Donna Pedersen for the follOWing outstanding achievements during her term of office: 1. Public Safety. Through her efforts on the Marysville Fire Board and Police Advisory Committee, she provided support and encouragement to the Police and Fire Departments in building professionally qualified,competent and efficient departments. 2. Public Facilities: During her tenure, the City made the following improvements to the City's public facilities - a new library, remodel of City Hall,golf course reconstruction, new pro shop, new restaurant facility, a new senior center, and a new 800 MHZ Communication System. 3. Parks and Recreation: Through the remodel of Cedarcrest Golf Course,Pro Shop and restaurant, and acquisition of Strawberry Fields,Waterfront Park property, Peace Park, Skateboard Park and numerous other parks as well as continued dedication and support of the Parks and Recreation programs Councilmember Pedersen has enhanced quality of life in Marysville. 4. Public Street and Utilities: A wide-range of public street and utilities projects were undertaken during Councilmember Pedersen's years of dedication to the City of Marysville. These include but are not limited to SR 528 Improvements,88 th Street N.E.Improvements,State Avenue Improvements, Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements,Water Transmission Main from Everett to Marysville,and the new Getchell Reservoir. 5.Interlocal Cooperation:During her terms in office Councilmember Pedersen helped usher in a new era of cooperation between the City of Marysville and surrounding jurisdictions through the implementation of numerous and wide- ranging interlocal agreements.Councilmember Pedersen also served on the Snohomish Health Board. 6.Boards &Committees:Councilmember Pedersen has been the City's representative to many boards and committees both locally and regionally during her tenure as Councilmember.These include Budget Committee, Building/Facilities Committee,CitylTribes Committee,Economic Development/Downtown Revitalization Committee,Fire Board,Law and Justice Council,Police Advisory Committee,and Snohomish Health Board. 7.Financial Stability:Throughout a period of increasing pressure on public finances,Councilmember Pedersen has assisted the City in maintaining sound fiscal policies which have resulted in financial stability. PASSED by the MAYOR and APPROVED by the CITY COUNCIL this 14th day of January,2002.
