A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE REGARDING THE
172ND STREET INTERCHANGE WITH INTERSTATE 5.
WHEREAS, transportation issues are of primary importance to most residents of North
Snohomish County; and
WHEREAS, procurement of adequate funding for transportation projects is of great
concern to local governments; and
WHEREAS, cooperative efforts among governmental jurisdictions often improve the
chance of success in acquiring such funding; and
WHEREAS, the 1-5 at 172nd Street interchange will serve the businesses and residents of
the City of Arlington, City of Marysville, and Snohomish County; and
WHEREAS, the 1-5 at 172nd Street interchange is a vital east/west link for commercial
and residential traffic for Snohomish County, Marysville, and Arlington; and
WHEREAS, the 1-5 at 172nd Street interchange will serve the Seven Lakes area of
Snohonllsh County; and
WHEREAS, 172nd Street is an important link between Interstate 5 and State Route 9; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arlington and the City of Marysville have a long history of
working together to solve local and regional issues; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Growth Management Act strongly encourages
collaborative efforts between governmental agencies at the City, County, and State levels; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,
WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS:
1.The City of Marysville declares its support to the City of Arlington to seek
funding, to design, and to rebuild the 1-5at 172nd Street interchange in
cooperation with Snohomish County and the Washington State Department of
Transportation.
2. The City of Marysville's Urban Growth Area includes property located on the
West side ofl-5 at 172nd; therefore, the planned interchange improvements are
vital to Marysville's future.

3.The City of Marysville will join the City of Arlington on any lobbying efforts on
the State or Federalleve1 to secure the needed funding for this important project.
