Ingraham (FFG 61)CITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville,Washington RESOLUTION NO. 2089 SUPPORT OUR TROOPS OVERSEAS ANDABOARD THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE ADOPTED SHIP,U.s.S.INGRAHAM (FFG 61) WHEREAS,on September 11,2001,thousands of Americans and citizens of eighty countries were killed in a terrorist attack on the United States of America; and WHEREAS,America has responded to the terrorist attack by leading an international effort to end terrorism, and WHEREAS,the President of the United States has activated and deployed numerous men and women from the Marysville area,including those who serve their nation as crew members aboard the City's adopted ship, the guided missile frigate U.S.S. Ingraham, in cooperation with the U.S. Navy Adopt-A-Ship program; and WHEREAS,victory in the battle against terrorism will be achieved due the devotion and willingness of our uniformed men and women to answer our nation's call to duty when the cause of freedom and justice is threatened by foreign tyrants and aggressors; and WHEREAS,all Marysville citizens, regardless of their support for the foreign policy of any administration,believe in providing a compassionate and supportive community for residents of the City in all branches of the Armed Forces, the Reserves and those called to perform homeland security duties, as well as the families and friends of those serving. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON,that SECTION 1: the City of Marysville,its citizens and City employees are encouraged to demonstrate the community's steadfast commitment toward the brave men and women of the U.S. Military and crew members aboard our adopted ship, the U.S.S.Ingraham,and wish them all Godspeed in their dangerous international mission, as well as a safe return from harm's way. SECTION 2: This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval. PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this 24'"day of March, 2003.
