A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE HONORING
JO ANN MULLIGAN
WHEREAS, JO ANN MULLIGAN has served the needy citizens of
Marysville for thirty years, and
WHEREAS, the City gratefully acknowledges the benefits which it has
received from Jo Ann Mulligan's dedication to public service, and desires to
acknowledge Jo Ann Mulligan's accomplishments by means of this Resolution;
NOW THEREFORE,
THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,
WASHINGTON,hereby commend Jo Ann Mulligan for the following
achievements during her volunteer career serving the hungry:
• Served the hungry families in the Marysville area for thirty years;
• Founded the Marysville Community Food Bank through an alliance of
churches and volunteers from within the Marysville area;
• Ensured that the seniors and needy families of Marysville are able to take
advantage of the FEMA program for supplemental food assistance;
• Served as Coordinator and President of the Board of Directors of the
Marysville Community Food Bank since its inception in 1985;
• Built an alliance with the grocery stores within the City of Marysville to
provide donations of food;
• Solicited, scheduled, trained, and supervised a team of approximately 60
volunteers each month to ensure that the needy of Marysville would
receive assistance, and has continued to maintain a core of about 60
trained volunteers at all times;
• Has secured grants to purchase needed equipment and capital
improvements for the food bank such as: a walk-in refrigerator/freezer,
computer, copier, awnings, and box truck.
• As the food bank has expanded, has worked to relocate the food bank
three times;
•Succeeded in building the food bank at its current location through grants,
donations,and volunteer labor;
• Has continually worked with the various schools and service groups within
Marysville to provide information and secure donations;
• Has supported Operation Marysville Community Christmas to ensure
needy children in the community receive toys at Christmastime;and
• Has successfully secured property and grant funding to build another,
bigger food bank to accommodate the increased needs of the community
now and into the future.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE AS FOLLOWS:
The City of Marysville expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Jo Ann
MUlligan for the professionalism exhibited and her personal contributions and
sacrifices made during her 30 years of service to the Marysville community.
