A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE TRANSFERRING
CONTROL AND OWNERSHIP OF MOTOROLA TX MESSENGER
SOFTWARE LICENSES TO SNOPAC.
WHEREAS,all of the police and fire agencies in Snohomish County are in the process of
upgrading the Motorola TX Messenger software used on Mobile Data Terminals (MDT); and,
WHEREAS,this upgrade is a requirement from the Department of Homeland Security to
meet encryption rules; and
WHEREAS,SNOPAC has received a grant to facilitate such Department of Homeland
Security requirements;and
WHEREAS,SNOPAC currently manages the MDT wireless connections;and
WHEREAS,Motorola,the licensor of the software, agrees and recommends the transfer
of the licenses to SNOPAC to facilitate the required software upgrades;and
WHEREAS,there are ten (10) licenses with an approximate value of $450 each, failure
of the City to transfer the software licenses to facilitate the required upgrade will result in the
software being worthless to the city and the city not in compliance with the Department of
Homeland Security requirements.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS:
The Motorola TX Messenger software licenses for use in Mobile Data Terminals are hereby
transferred to SNOPAC.
