A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON
SUPPORTING THE LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
REGARDING THE BREAK IN ACCESS AT SR9/SR92.
WHEREAS,the Washington State Department of Transportation "State"and the City of
Marysville,"City"each have an interest in the timing and development of the intersection and
break in access at SR9/SR92;and
WHEREAS,the State has designed and has been ready to advertise for bid the construction of
improvements to SR9/SR92 since December,2009; and
WHEREAS,the City has plans to expand its road network through Whiskey Ridge by
constructing a new road from Sunnyside Road to the east along the alignment of 40th Street
through S3rd and along sih to approximately 35 th to connect to the SR9/SR92 intersection;
and
WHEREAS,the State project SR9,Lundeen Parkway to SR92 widening is not funded to
accept connection from the City road network at SR9/SR92 intersection;and
WHEREAS,the City intends to finance the construction of new road improvements from
Sunnyside Road to the SR9/SR92 intersection;and
WHEREAS,the City wishes to fully coordinate the timing of construction of the roadway and
intersection improvements referenced above with the State so as to minimize and reduce
duplication of effort and cost;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MARYSVILLE,WASHINGTON AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. The Marysville City Council endorses and support the Letter of Understanding
dated December 16, 2009 between the State and the City executed by its Public Works
Director.
Section 2. The City of Marysville intends to secure the necessary financing to build the
roadway improvements referenced herein.
Section 3. The City Council directs its staff to negotiate in good faith an interlocal agreement
with the State and to work collaboratively to prepare the necessary scope, schedule,budget
and other conditions necessary for City staff to bring the matter to the Marysville City Council
for formal action in the form of an interlocal agreement for the work at the intersection of SR9
and SR92.

Section 4.In the event the City and State are unable to reach agreement in the form of an
interlocal agreement by March 15,2010 the City understands and acknowledges that the State
will proceed as planned with the existing scope for the SR9/SR92 intersection and advertise
the project for construction.
