RESOLUTION NO. 2285
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE HONORING
MARY SWENSON, CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
WHEREAS, MARY SWENSON served the City of Marysville in various administrative and
executive roles from 1977 to 2010, spanning 32 Y2 years; and
WHEREAS, the City gratefully acknowledges the benefits which it has gained from Mary
Swenson's dedication to public service; the leadership, expertise, experience and sound fiscal
responsibility she brought to the job; and desires to memorialize her major accomplishments by means of
this Resolution; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON, hereby honors Mary
Swenson for the outstanding achievements during her career at the City of Marysville:
1. Administration: Establishing and contributing to a cohesive working relationship between the
Mayor's Office, City Council, Directors and City Staff that resulted in sound decision-making
and problem-solving on behalf of citizens;
2. Economic Development: Guiding the City's success in drawing major new retail and
residential development, laying the foundation for meeting future light industry and
manufacturing needs vital to job creation, and capitalizing on Marysville's prominent role in
efforts to land a NASCAR speedway and a North County four-year university.
3. Interlocal Cooperation: Creating a new era of collaboration and cooperation between the City
of Marysville and Tulalip Tribes to address economic development, transportation and other
needs of mutual interest in a manner that complemented their respective goals; and forged
stronger relationships with state and federal lawmakers, Snohomish County and neighboring
jurisdictions through implementation of numerous and wide-ranging interlocal agreements.
4. Professional Assets: Developing skills in a wide range of areas including economic
development, risk management, communications, personnel management, labor
negotiations, contract management, budgeting and special projects, assets that contributed
to a more professionalized, efficiently-run organization and pleasurable place to work.
PASSED and APPROVED by the CITY COUNCIL this 10th day of May, 2010.
