HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-2336 - Congratulating and honoring the Marysville School District Board of Directors for being named Board of the Year in 2011 by the Washington State SchoolCITY OF MARYSVILLE Marysville, Washington RESOLUTION No.]33b RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND HONORING THE MARYSVILLE SCHOOL DISiR~CT BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR BEING NAMED BOARD F THE YEAR IN 2011 BY THE WASHINGTON STATE SCHOO DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION WHEREAS, the Marysville School District Bomd of Directors plans asp QSs of the distIict's operations and provides decision-making leadership focused on student 8chievement and ensuring th'at~tudents have ample opportunity to achieve learning needs and become successful citizens in our diverse society; and '\, WHEREAS, the School Board h8s excelled at governance through outstanding teamwork and collaboration with the District Superintendent and Staff, setting high expectations and accountability for student learning, creating an environment district-wide for student, faculty and staff success, and partnering with families and the Marysville-Tulalip communities to ensure that diverse perspectives are heard; and WHEREAS, the Washington St8te School Directors Association each year honors outstanding school boards that demonstrate understanding of their leadership role and follow through on their responsibilities, while showing concern for the educational excellence for "II students; "nd WHEREAS, the Marysville School District Board of Directors was honored as Board of the Year by the Washington State School Directors Association on Nov. 17 for school districts of9,000 students or more; and WHEREAS, this dedicated Board includes Chris Nation, president; Wendy Fryberg, vice president; and directors Dr. Tom Albright, Cindy Erickson and Pete Lundberg; and WHEREAS, this designation honors not only the Board itself but also the district as a whole, including parents, teachers, staff and the greater communities of Marysville and TuJalip who put students first: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED tbM the Mayor of the City of Marysville, the City Council concurring, hereby commend the Marysville School District Board of Directors -collectively and individually -for being n8med School Board of the Year; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT we are proud to highlight this great accomplishment, as education is an essential priority for a growing, innovative community such as ours.
