Value Engineering Change Proposal (VECP) - Walls 3 & 4
Contract Change Order No. 006 represents an agreed-to revision to the design of Retaining Walls 3
and 4, as authored by Strider and its designer. Aspect Consulting, and as further described within
Strider Serial Letters 27, 28, 30, and 32 (dated 3/10/21, 4/23/21, 5/20/21. and 6/14/21. respectively) -
attached herein and by this reference made part of this change order. This change is being made in
accordance with City comments provided via Transmittal 231 (5/4/21), Serial Letter 11 (6/3/21),
andXransmittal 248 (6/23/21), as well as Section 1-04.4(2) of the Contract, "Value Engineering
Change Proposal," which stipulates:
• Strider accepts design risk of all features, both temporary and permanent, of the changed Work.
• Strider accepts risk of constructability of the changed Work.
• Strider provides the Contracting Agency with the right to use all or any part of the proposal on
future projects without further obligation or compensation.
Further, Strider accepts risk and responsibility for any necessary modification to the unchanged
components of Walls 3 & 4 or other elements of the Work which may arise from a) pile alignment
issues encountered during driving and/or b) the VECP design changes generally.
The table on the following page provides a summary of the gross savings from deleted work and
the gross costs of added work arising from this change - itemized within existing Schedule A bid
items and new bid items, respectively. (Note that new bid items are shown in bold font.) The
difference between the two represents the net savings attribut^le to the change, and newly-
established Schedule A Bid Item # 172) Incentive Pay - VECP, has been created to apportion
one half of the net savings to Strider in accordance with Section 1 -04.4(2)31 of the Contract.
